I’m in a rush today as we had the internet technician in (problems with the line…) so I was offline for an hour or so and reduced to cleaning the kitchen, rather than writing.

Very briefly then, there’s a new page of conversation prompts up on the club site.

The topic is ‘Lavoro e studio‘.

Even if you don’t have an Italian native-speaker handy, this is useful material, so do take a look. You can practice speaking on your own!

Were it me, I’d be having a read through these as they are published, picking out new vocabulary, looking at the grammar structures, and maybe writing down the questions and my answers.

Or, why not write the questions on small pieces of paper, like flashcards? Then shuffle them and pick one out. Read the question to yourself, then answer as best as you can.

It might seem a little artificial, but it’s a really useful technique, and totally free. Hours of fun for all the family!

Yesterday I was ‘on holiday’.

Which meant that, apart from cooking two meals and washing the dishes, I spent hours sat at the kitchen table copying and pasting FREE SAMPLE CHAPTER links into the new ‘Catalogue‘ page of easyreaders.org, our upgraded and much more swish online shop.

The idea is to make it much easier to see what’s IN an ebook.

That way, students of Italian (and/or other languages) will be more easily able to find just the right material for their level and interests.

I’ve copied and pasted an extract here (there was more, much more…)

Scroll down to see the product categories (easy readers, parallel texts, ‘classic movies’ etc.)

Pick a category that interest you.

Within that category, you should see the ebooks in approximate level order.

Click the free sample chapter link to see, well, a free sample chapter.

It should be just like standing in a bookshop (remember those?)

You find the right shop, then the right section of the shop, then the right shelf, and then you pick up something that might do.

Click the free sample link for the ebook that interests you and leaf through the first few pages.

Too easy?

Put it back and try another.

Too hard?

Put it back and try another.

Just right?

Then click on the OTHER link, which will take you to the online shop, and click the ‘Add to cart’ button.

Then go back to the ‘Catalogue‘ page and browse some more. The ‘cart’ will remember what you have picked out.
