On Sunday I posted my suggestions for beginners or near beginners.
Yesterday I recommended materials for those of you at A2 and B1 (pre-intermediate and intermediate) levels.
So today, let’s look at the more challenging stuff!
As previously mentioned, The Tenses You Need To Speak Italian is a useful read.
And our five-level grammar workbook series makes a good platform from which to revise what you’ve already studied and to push the envelope a little further.
All six ebooks have free samples you can download right now. They include the ‘contents’ page (so you can see what’s covered in each) and the first quarter of the ebook.
Click here to see them in our online shop. Clicking on the cover image or images will get you more information and the free sample download links.
Or the free sample download links can be located directly from the catalog page.
Don’t forget, the prices shown on the catalog page will be discounted by 20% when you use the coupon code at the end of this article!
Of course, you’ll want to supplement the grammar/vocabulary you’re studying with work on your reading and listening skills, right?
Here are nine more ‘easy readers’, these being suitable for those of you at intermediate level or above.
(Confirm that by listening/reading to the free sample chapters, which are also linked to below. The link for the online audio can be found at the top of Chapter 1.)
Aria di festa (B1/2) £7.99 Download FREE sample (.pdf)
Cereo 12 (B1/2) £7.99 Download FREE sample (.pdf)
La casa dei fantasmi (B1/2) £7.99 Download FREE sample (.pdf)
Le tante facce del futuro (B1/2) £7.99 Download FREE sample (.pdf)
Segreti e polpette (B1/2) £7.99 Download FREE sample (.pdf)
Un furto ad arte (B1/2) £7.99 Download FREE sample (.pdf)
Un’indagine molto privata (B1/2) £7.99 Download FREE sample (.pdf)

Le italiane (B2) £7.99 Download FREE sample (.pdf)
Also at this level is our ‘Day in the life of’ series of ‘easy readers’.
These are simplified stories based on glimpses of the lives of famous people from history.
Since you ask, our favorites, here at OnlineItalianClub.com HQ, are Galileo, Leonardo and Caragaggio.
They’re all good, though, and this sort of opportunity for reading/listening is INVALUABLE.
Colombo e il mare Oceano (Level B1/2) £7.99 Download FREE sample (.pdf)
Galileo, Pisa e la luna (B1/2) £7.99 Download FREE sample (.pdf)
Un giorno con Raffaello (B1/B2) £7.99 Download FREE sample (.pdf)
Vivaldi e la chiesa della Salute (B2) £7.99 Download FREE sample (.pdf)
Leonardo in riva all’Adda (B2) £7.99 Download FREE sample (.pdf)
Caravaggio nei vicoli di Roma (B2) £7.99 Download FREE sample (.pdf)
Michelangelo e il Mosè (B2/C1) £7.99 Download FREE sample (.pdf)
Also very good are the three harder titles from our ‘Book of the classic Italian film’ series.
Read/listen to our simplified version of the movie first, then find the original movie online, or from your cable provider, and watch that.
Think how satisfying it will be when you’re able to say: “Oh yes, I saw that in the original language!”
Accattone (B1/2) £7.99 Download FREE sample (.pdf)
Ieri, oggi, domani (B1/2) £7.99 Download FREE sample (.pdf)
La vita è bella (B1/B2) £7.99 Download FREE sample (.pdf)
And finally, as yesterday, we have the Italian-English parallel texts, which some people like.
They’re the same stories as in the ‘easy readers’ above, but come with an English translation instead of the audio.
If you feel the urge to translate everything you read, then these are for you!
Italian/English Parallel Text: Vivaldi e la chiesa della Salute (B1) £7.99 Download FREE sample(.pdf)

Great, so that’s the grammar, reading and listening sorted!
All three are essential to knowing and using a language.
However, if you get all tongue-tied when you have to sustain a conversation in Italian, what is the point of all that hard work?
Not to worry, though.
It’s not hard to get used to actually speaking Italian.
You just need to spend a sufficient amount of time in conversation, ideally with a friendly, competent native speaker.
That costs, of course.
But not as much as you might think, especially if you use the coupon code at the end of this article.
Book some lessons and tell your teacher that your priority is speaking.
And remember, we have ready-made conversation lessons on the club website, which you can select from and prepare in advance if you choose to.
Suppose, for example, that you decided to take two half-hour lessons a week between now and the start of June.
That would cost, what, a couple of hundred pounds, spread out over several months?
Some people spend more getting their hair styled…
But I bet you’d notice an improvement!
Confidence comes with practice.

Dan Russo says
How can I determine my level of Italian in order to correctly enroll in your material? I am happy with my Italian comprehension, but want to improve it. Where do I start? Where can I take a test? Can I take a test on line to give me an Idea of what my level is?
Daniel says
Ciao Dan,
You could try looking at the menu on the website? One item is ‘Start Here‘, which I hoped would be hard to miss.
Or there’s the one that says ‘Six Levels!‘…
Hope that helps.
