Buondì.
As soon as I pressed ‘play’ on today’s free Italian listening comprehension task, I was like “OMG Stefi! What have you done?”
My wife recorded the interview at our school, a historic building with high arched ceilings.
Being covered in affreschi they’re very pretty, but they do rather reflect sound waves.
Beh, you can hear the effect for yourself by clicking here and looking for the Soundcloud plugin which powers the audio.
If you plan to be spending any time having Italian conversations in a really echoey tunnel, it’ll be great preparation!
That said, do persist – there’s a transcript to help you, the interviewee speaks very naturally, and overall the material is interesting and useful.
Here’s that link again: Hai mai…? (2).
By the way, the previous ‘Hai mai…?’ is on our ‘New’ page, along with the others in this series.
And the questions Stefi is asking can be found here.
Conversation prompts on other topics are here.
‘Book of the Week’ reminder
Don’t forget this week’s half-price ebook ‘Book of the Week’, which is suitable for anyone at intermediate level or above.
‘Un furto ad arte‘ is a private detective story, and quite an entertaining one at that.
Rome, mid-summer, and the temperature outside is so high that sensible people stay at home with the shutters closed and the air-conditioning at maximum. So a private detective is surprised when he receives a phone call from the son of one of the city’s great families. Will he agree to investigate the theft of a famous painting?
There’s a free sample chapter (.pdf) so you can get an idea if the level is right for you.

Hi Daniel,
I have just listened to Hai Mai 2. Sure, there was a bit of an echo but I could hear virtually every word and better still, understood. Like listening to a ‘normal’ conversation in a coffee shop or elsewhere. Very natural and amusing! Thanks!!

Grazie, Anita!
