Buondì.
Here’s a line from the transcript for today’s new audio of Italian native speakers answering questions from our free conversation prompts:
Se potessi rinascere dopo essere morto, rivivresti tutto da capo? C’è qualcosa che vorresti cambiare?
That is to say “If you could be reborn after death, would you live everything again from the beginning? Is there something you’d want to change?”
An interesting question, but one with lots of caveats.
Like we’re not talking about turning back time completely, right?
I wouldn’t be reborn in 1967?
So I wouldn’t be able to live the same experiences I had the first time?
The speaker on the audio seems to have had a wonderful life, and so is keen to do it all again, as if rewatching a favorite film.
But another caveat!
Presumably, having the chance to do it all one more time would NOT mean starting again with our current level of experience and hard-earned wisdom.
I can see that doing, say, high school again would be much easier with a previous lifetime’s worth of knowledge and understanding (imagine the possibilities…)
But enduring it once more with a child’s more-limited understanding of the world?
Being in such a powerless position in society, utterly dependent on parents and teachers?
Beh…
You’ll find this and other interesting questions in today’s free listening with transcript:
(‘And if…?’)
As I publish material from this series, I link to each page from our ‘New’ page so they’re easy for you to find if you want to do the previous ones.
Trust me – the more listening practice you do, the better-equipped you’ll be when it comes to conversation.
And if it’s free, what have you got to lose?
The questions in today’s audio, by the way, are taken from our series of free conversation prompts, specifically this one: ‘E se?’
So there, that’s everything you need for the weekend!
A heap of authentic listening practice, the accompanying transcripts to read and/or study, plus lots of stimulating conversation topics, should you fancy a bit of a chat with a classmate or online Italian teacher.
Buon fine settimana!
A lunedì.
