Two More Italian Exercises & AUTUMN SALE Starts Today!

October 3, 2016 by Daniel

Continuing with the theme of sorting out the ‘vocabulary’ section of our club, here are two exercises I’ve picked out for you to look at.

The first covers abbreviations, the second deals with foreign words commonly found in Italian:

  • Essential Italian Abbreviations – True Or False?
  • Foreign Words Used In Italian – Dropdown Exercise

Poi, overnight I had an email from Valerie in Australia with a suggestion which I thought might be of interest to other club members. She wrote:

I have been thinking about the problems I have with some grammar; that is , using it in everyday conversation.

I learn the rules and basics, I remember them as an exercise, I understand them, it but when it comes to hear them in a conversation or use them myself in a conversation I have problems.

Could any of your writers write some sort of short story, such as the books, using specific grammar in each story such as,

  • Reflexive verbs
  • Future tense
  • Past tense
  • Direct object pronouns
  • Indirect object pronouns

etc.

My ideas is to be able to read and listen to a story with just, e.g. reflexive verbs, but in conversational form so as to get used to the whole concept.

Good idea, huh? My reply was:

We’ve done texts like this in the past, Valerie. A couple of years ago. Not stories, but texts focusing on just the one grammar area.

You can find them from the alphabetical index on our ‘Listening’ page, here:

https://onlineitalianclub.com/index-of-italian-listening-comprehension-exercises/

A quick search turned up most of the grammar areas you listed.

So there, if you too have a particular grammar area that’s driving you nuts, try searching for it on the listening page.

Contra-logical, I know. But worth a try!
