Buonasera.
I’d long suspected there were only a handful of club members following our Summer Series.
So when in today’s earlier article I forgot to replace the link to Wednesday’s Episode 23# with Friday’s Episode #24, and indeed to add the new link to our History page (now done!), two of that handful made themselves known.
Thanks to Helen, who emailed politely, and Patricia, who commented politely on the earlier article.
Here’s the missing link, so to speak:
Il Rinascimento, Episodio 24. Genova e il ragazzino che inizia la rivolta
A lunedì!

Daniel, Now I’m feeling bad – I did notice earlier when I opened up todays email and clicked on the link that chapter 24 wasn’t loading …but as I am about 8 or 9 episodes behind everyone else (and feeling bad about that!) I began to listen to an earlier chapter.
Although I am not keeping up with the episodes as you publish them I am really enjoying the series – I will be visiting my sister in Genova next week so I do want to get to Chapter 24 by the time I am there!
Thank you for these commissioning the series .
Best wishes
Philippa

Slowly, steadily Philippa. The history isn’t going to go anywhere…
Have a nice time in Genova (another of the places I’ve not yet got around to seeing)!

Hi, Daniel.
For the record, count me among the handful following your Summer Series. (I’d also have realized the link wasn’t working but these days I seem to be getting around to reading my emails only later in the evening.)
By the way, I appreciated the attached video clip of youth organization under Fascism. Very interesting.
Thank you for making your Summer Series so readily available, even if it’s less than hundreds of people taking advantage of them.
Your fan from Washington, DC.

Thanks for the positive feedback, Karen! So now you’re a proper fistful!

I also have read and listened to every word, but have been out for the day so only just getting around to this episode. Despite it being way above my pay grade, I really try and I am very appreciative of all you have done to make this available – equally Il Medioevo. Thank you.

And the Romans? That was my favorite…

I also realised that the link wasn’t working but thought it was my computer as I have been having problems with it. All good now and thanks for the link.
Daniel says
Prego!

I have just watched the link – very interesting. Certainly a different era! I managed to understand a lot but obviously not all – even watched the next video!
I am a regular follower but don’t always make a comment!
Daniel says
Where my in-laws live, in Rimini, people still remember the Fascist-era summer camps for kids pictured in the video…

Daniel please don’t be discouraged by thinking only a handful listen to the Summer Series. I’m particularly enjoying the Renaissance series having been fascinated by it when studying “The Italian Wars “ many years ago for History O level – they make Game of Thrones look like the vicar’s whist drive.
I suspect I’m not alone in listening to the series at a leisurely pace and not being aware of the missing link until your email.
Keep up the good work
Roger
Daniel says
Grazie Roger!

A busy long weekend so only just caught up with Episode 24. A few years ago I stayed in Genova for a couple of days and the influences of its history can clearly be seen around the city. Very interesting you must go sometime! My nearest big city Liverpool similarly reflects the varied influences upon it and which benefitted from the move to the Atlantic trade. The link at the end was very interesting but also quite disturbing that such young children were brought into this.
The numbers following this excellent series may have fallen since the end of lockdown but rest assured Daniel those of us still here really appreciate it. Not only has my Italian improved but also my understanding of Italy. A big thank you to all connected with the production of it. Also thanks for the free e-book (Easy Italian News). I have put this on my “e-book shelf” together with a couple of e-books purchased, as my material to read when this series has ended.
