Taking an Italian course or working from a self-study book is all very well…. you can definitely improve your Italian with either method. But neither way is exactly fast.
We all know that it takes time to learn a language, and that patience is a virtue (thanks mum!)
Patience. Time. Yawn.
But, hey, what if there was a faster way?
What if you could somehow JUST STUDY THE STUFF YOU REALLY NEEDED? Ignoring all the rest?
And, like, keep focusing on the really important bits, until you had them down and could say them correctly without having to think it all through first.
What if you could only study the grammar or vocabulary that you actually needed to use to say what YOU want to say?
That would be faster, right? Wouldn’t it be great if you could learn Italian like that?
Well, now you can.
The secret is to hook up with someone who will get you talking in Italian and listen to you patiently and encouragingly, while focusing hard on analysing your mistakes and identifying the gaps in your knowledge.
Then that someone will explain the things you really need to know, and only those things.
They’ll write down some examples for you, maybe assign some homework tasks, if you’re into that. And of course chase you up, when you make the same mistakes the next time they speak to you.
Sort of like with a personal trainer, or a life coach. For a job like this, you need someone who really knows their stuff, and who knows how to help you know yours too!
In fact, you need someone like Giulia, Lucia or Paolo, professional Italian language teachers who work with OnlineItalianClub.com to create lessons personalised to your needs and preferences.
Time to give up staring out the window rather than at your grammar book.
And, please, no more checking your e-mails on your smart phone while the “boring one” in your Italian class goes on and on, and the teacher seems unable to stop him.
From now on it’s just you and your teacher, studying what YOU need to study, the way YOU want to do it.
(Via Skype, wherever you are in the world, just as long as you have a reliable Internet connection…)
Woosh!
That was the sound of your Italian improving rapidly.

Everything in this article resonates with me Daniel.
We need a good grasp of grammar and a reasonable vocabulary.
I now understand what “Io so tutti i pericoli di inquinamento” means, but this won’t be of much help when to me when I go into a salumeria in Bologna and ask for “due etti di questa mortadella e un vasetto di olive ripieni” without too many “Emhs and Ahs” i.e. conversational Italian, described by you as “doing Italian”
I bet a young Italian lad asking”quello era il puntaggio finale” has not yet fully come to grips with when to use ‘potrebbero’ as opposed to ‘potrebbe’
As you know my computer is acting up, it should be fissato presto then I can get into my Skype lessons
You are almost there, well done
