It’s quite an interesting one, touching on how the invading tribes (Longobardi & Franchi) differed from each other, and from the existing Roman/Byzantine inhabitants of the Italian peninsula. Religion was an important factor, but also language, and even architecture.

History has always been interesting to me. Actually I understand a fair amount of these articles but please don’t ask me to translate. What I find amazing is that Italy managed to unite as a nation in spite of all these different influences. I think they were just states for a long time. It is all so fascinating. Grazie mille!
