Buondì.
It’s cloudy in Bologna today, but it’ll be Friday all day, so no problem!
Today I have an announcement you might want to take note of.
Next week, FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER, I’ll be suspending the usual Monday, Wednesday, Friday articles.
Why?
Because after twelve years our Italian school is ‘moving house’ on Tuesday.
And while it’s only about a quarter of a mile in terms of distance, there’ll be masses of work to do.
In fact there has already been a lot to do – we’ve been at it for months.
But the ‘to do’ list will crescendo between Monday and Friday next week.
Monday, as well as teaching, we’ll have the final boxing up to do, taking down pictures from walls, wrapping classroom equipment in bubble wrap, you get the idea.
Tuesday is the actual move.
In the morning, I’ll be supervising the removals firm loading the furniture and equipment from the ‘old’ school.
In the afternoon I’ll be at the ‘new’ school, where hopefully they’ll be unloading everything once more.
I’ll have my toolbox out and be busy setting up classrooms, fixing whiteboards to walls and so on.
Wednesday we clean up the building we’re vacating and hand over the keys, while beginning classes again at the ‘new school’ (the pre-schoolers I teach in the evening will likely be in a frenzy of discovery…)
And the rest of the week?
That’ll be for unpacking boxes, filling up bookcases, putting up signs (Bagni this way, Aula 5 that way) and so on.
As I’m sure you know what a pain moving can be, I’m confident you’ll forgive my temporary absence.
Who knows, maybe you’ll even be glad.
But either way, normal service here at the club will resume from Monday 5th June.
In the meantime, though, what could you be studying?
Below are four old listenings with new tasks.
They’re today’s, plus the ones I would have sent out next week, if I hadn’t been busy with my electric drill.
- Periodo ipotetico della realtà
- Periodo ipotetico della possibilità
- Passato remoto italiano dei verbi regolari
- Il passato remoto dei verbi irregolari
And if you need to swot up on either of the grammar topics covered above, you could check out our alphabetical Italian grammar index.
