Today’s Italian Conversation, number forty-seven in our series, is entitled ‘Contesti sociali, Presentarsi‘.
Which broadly translates as ‘introducing yourself in social situations’. There’s a woman and a man, chatting at the gym, exchanging personal details.
We find out that she’s married with kids, but he’s single (not found the right woman yet.)
What’s she doing talking to him, I ask myself.
OMG, she’s offering him her phone number!
But no, in the end they agree to meet again at the gym the next day. This all sounds very suspicious…
But wait, it’s not what you think! Or at least I don’t think so…
As neither our writer nor our actors are professionals, it CAN be a little difficult to divine what’s supposed to be going on.
Are they just chatting, to while away the time while exercising? Or is this the start of something?
Listen to today’s Italian Conversation and decide for yourself!
Previous dialogues from this series are available on our Italian Conversations homepage.
Don’t expect perfect acting, writing or sound recording. But the material is created by native speaker Italian teachers for learners like you. There are lots of them, and they’re completely free!
News about Italian Easy Readers!
Our next Italian easy reader will be published on Monday morning.
The title is ‘Segreti e polpette’ and it’s by the same two writers, Emanuele and Michela, who did this week’s Book of the Week (see below.)
It’s the story of a family restaurant in a small Italian town, and what happens one day when the family members who work there unexpectedly find themselves under pressure…
The level is quite high, I think we’ve described it as B1/B2, so upper-intermediate. As such, the chapters are a little longer and meatier, and the story is more engaging. I’m pretty sure you’ll like it!
So, look out for the free sample chapter and special launch price on Monday!
In the meantime, I’ll lazily ‘copy and paste’ the reminder for this week’s ‘Book of the Week’ from Wednesday’s post, just in case you’d been meaning to buy it but hadn’t got around to it.
The ‘Book of the Week’ offer ends soon (Sunday)…
+++
This week’s ‘Book of the Week’ is L’amore ai tempi del supermercato.
Download the free sample chapter (.pdf) to check the level and see if you like it.
If so, you’ll be pleased to hear that it’s HALF PRICE all this week, at just €4.99 rather than the usual e-book price of €9.99.
