New ‘easy reader’ ebook & ‘Mini-Book Club’ to go with it

April 29, 2020 by Daniel

Buondì.

As mentioned on Monday, we have a new, beginner/elementary-level (A1/2) ‘easy Italian reader’ ebook, the first in a series of simplified versions of classic Italian literature.

It’s ‘Le avventure di Pinocchio‘, Carlo Collodi’s classic children’s story of a talking puppet running riot, now rewritten for students of Italian!

Italian easy readers - Le avventure di Pinocchio - cover image

Pinocchio is a wooden puppet but alive nonetheless! Just like a real child, he’s prone to disobedience and telling lies. He runs away from his loving father and refuses to go to school. But, thanks to a colorful cast of villains, a fairy, and a talking cricket, after many adventures..

Although Le avventure di Pinocchio is a well-known story, as a piece of study material especially written for learners of Italian it’s well worth the special launch offer price of just £5.99 (until next Tuesday night, subsequently £7.99.)

Check out the free sample chapter (.pdf) to get an idea of the level, length and format of this ebook, and whether it will be suitable for you at your current level in Italian.

Or select something more appropriate from our Catalog page, where you’ll find ebooks from the lowest level to the highest.

N.b. while the default ebook format is .pdf (printable and readable on most devices), this story, like many of our ebooks, is also available in .mobi (Kindle-compatible) and .epub (other ebook readers) formats. If you want one or both of these other formats as well, at no additional cost, just ask at the time of your order – there’s a space on the order form to add a note, or email me.

One more thing for anyone interested in buying ebooks (or lessons for that matter) – we no longer offer Amazon Pay as a payment method. There was another update, which caused chaos and lead to me getting monumentally fed up and deleting it.

However, paying by credit card in our online shop IS possible. What you have to do is to choose the Paypal option – they process card payments for us – though you DON’T need to open account with them. Promise! There are full instructions and a picture in the shop’s FAQ.

‘Mini-Book Club’

So far, I’ve just been trying to sell you something.

But actually, if you are willing to have a stab at reading in Italian, there’s no reason why you shouldn’t try the original ‘Pinocchio’ instead of our ‘easy reader’ version – it’s available free online.

Some, I won’t say ‘many’, club members got through all 503 pages of Umberto Eco’s ‘Il nome della rosa‘ this month. Some are probably still reading…

‘Pinocchio’ is much shorter, which should make it much more manageable (though the language is archaic in places.)

Anyway, simplified version or real version, several people have told me that they enjoyed the ‘Book Club exerience’, so I thought I’d offer something similar to what we did for Eco’s book – a place to comment and exchange ideas with other club members, a ‘Mini-Book Club‘!

Click this link to find out more. Or access it from our Literature page.

It’s FREE to participate.

P.S.

Lastly, don’t forget to read/listen to Tuesday’s bulletin of ‘easy’ Italian news – I already did, and found out that my son has no idea how to say ‘FAQ’ (Frequently Asked Questions).

Kids these days, huh?

EasyItalianNews.com is absolutely free to read and listen to. Better still, it’s also free to subscribe to and so receive each thrice-weekly bulletin directly into your inbox.

A venerdì, allora!

Ordered Pinocchio – the sample pdf got me hooked slightly – as much as a pesky marionette can and confess to a soft spot for him ………….. Thanks for your updates Daniel, they usually have me laughing out loud, quite a feat and can’t say much does at the moment.
