Buona giornata a tutti! Today we have the launch of our latest Italian easy reader, and of course another free Italian lesson in our series.
But first things first: Un’indagine molto privata tells the story of Gianna, who is about to turn 40 and has lately become dissatisfied with her life as a translator of crime fiction.
Instead she fantasizes about becoming a private detective herself. So when her husband starts behaving suspiciously, Gianna decides to investigate… But can she measure up to her fictional investigator heroes?

OK, that’s the marketing bit done. Now what about the free lesson, huh?
Here you go – 18: Conditional Present – more conjugations to get your teeth into. There’s a lesson, an audio recording and a collection of exercises to try. E-mail me if you find any mistakes and I’ll make sure to get them fixed.
So, where to start? The grammar lesson, or the reading/listening practice?
Those of you who have been members of our club for a while will know my preference. I just ignore the verb conjugations and myriad exceptions and get on with reading and listening to the language.
Most people are the opposite – they prefer to tackle the grammar first and postpone trying to use what they study.
Probably the best solution would be (conditional structure! see today’s lesson) to prioritize both, seeking to combine grammar study, which will accelerate your ‘learning’ of the language, with practice, which gives a context for the grammar study and will help build your reading/listening skills.
So today, try to find time for both today’s free Italian lesson AND a chapter or two of one of our easy Italian readers…
