What the cabbage?

October 26, 2013 by Daniel

Sorry, mixing up my languages there. What I meant was “Che cavolo?” or maybe “What the f**k?”

Today’s Italian pop song is Dune Mosse by Zucchero (want sugar with that?) With the late, great Miles Davis playing along.

That swings it for me. Italian pop, take it or leave it, but Miles, well, you don’t want to miss that.

Click the links below for an unmissable musical experience. Really, this song is great. Anyone who knows me will tell you that enthusiasm is not my thing, so do check it out.

But don’t ask me what the vegetable it’s all about.

I asked my Italian wife to help with the lyrics and within seconds she was typing “what is Dune mosse about?” into Google.

So, even Italians don’t get this.

But it’s fantastic anyway. I love it. Listen to the song, read the lyrics.

And read the comments on the Youtube video.

Ready?

  • Lyrics here (not that it will help much)

Chorus:

Don’t cry però
Poi…
colammo giù
e miseri
noi…
guardammo il blu.

P.S. ANYBODY who can post a credible explanation of what this song is about, wins an individual Italian via Skype worth €20. Leave your comment here.

Loved the music and his voice; the lyrics thought humm I am baffled. What does shifting sand dunes have to do with the message/anything, and all these natural events happening in the depth of her eyes “boh che vo di?, io nu lo so” 🙂 🙂 I hope I go some of the Italian right :).
Words like colammo, gridare, Grambi, Lambi have me stumped as well.

Yes, that’s exactly what we thought, John….
