Imagine climbing a really high, really difficult mountain.
Finally you get to the top.
How do you feel? Tired probably, but not too tired to look around for a few minutes, enjoy the view, maybe take a photo or two.
If you been with us since the start of OnlineItalianClub.com (back in 2013) you ought to be pretty good at Italian by now…
In which case, perhaps you’ve been following our recent C1 (advanced) listening practice materials, really honing your knowledge of the language.
Well done to you!
Today we publish the first of eight C2 (proficiency) listening comprehension exercises.
The top level!
Did you think you’d ever make it?
Look back at how far you’ve come, how high you’ve climbed!
Take a moment or two to appreciate what you’ve achieved, pat yourself on the back.
But remember, language is a complex thing, ever-changing, full of subtleties…
You’ve performed well so far, but to keep at the top of your game you’ll need to keep your weight down, stay in shape, and above all – keep working at improving your skills.
Mountaineers never seem to be satisfied with just one mountain, do they? There are always new challenges.
And in the same way, learning a foreign language such as Italian is not something that you ever really ‘finish’.
Ironically, we see our most advanced students are the least satisfied. The more you know, the more you realise just how much you don’t (and maybe will never) know.
You could either feel depressed about that, or driven to work harder, so as to achieve an ever-greater level of mastery.
Your choice, really.
In the mean time, go here to try the first of our new C2 (proficiency-level) listening tasks.
There are seven more to come over the next few weeks.
(Not an experienced moutaineer yet? You’ll find free materials for learning Italian at other levels here.)
P.S.
Talking of mountains, don’t forget our new easy Italian reader e-book ‘La montagna‘ which we launched this week.
It’s available until Sunday at the special launch price of just €7.50.
Personally I’d say that was well worth the money for an engaging original story, eight chapters, eight glossaries, eight exercises, and an audio version online that you can listen to as often as you like.
Save it on your smart phone, computer or tablet.
Print it, if you dislike trees that much.
But above all, read it and listen to it!
Do that, and you’ll be one step closer to the top of YOUR moutain.
