Buondì.
It’s Day 5 of our Summer Sale!
So this morning, I’ll deal with a few of the ‘Frequently Asked Questions’ that have been coming up.
Online Italian lessons
If I buy lessons now, during the offer, do I have to use them immediately?
Nope.
Lucia, our teaching manager, will contact you in the usual way.
But if, for whatever reason, you’re not yet ready to begin, just let her know.
In any case, your lessons credits won’t expire.
Do I have to do lessons at fixed days and times?
Nope again.
Lucia will assign you to a teacher based on your needs and preferences (time zone and teacher-availability included.)
Then you sort things out between the two of you, arranging lessons for whenever is mutually convenient.
Any problems, ask Lucia.
Can I / must I continue with the same teacher?
You can, but need not.
Again, Lucia will sort this out for you.
Tell her clearly what you want and, within reason, it will be done!
Ebooks
How does your level system work?
‘A’ is ‘elementary’, ‘B’ autonomous, and ‘C’ proficient.
From weakest to strongest, the levels go: A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, C2.
A1 is more elementary than A2.
B1 is better than A2, but weaker than B2.
C1 is pretty good, while C2 is the tops.
You get the idea.
Because we’re dealing in complex skills here (reading/listening) we often use ‘half levels’.
For example, our three-for-two ebook bundles come in these six options:
Why nothing after B1/2?
Because by then we’d expect you to be reading ‘authentic’ texts, rather than our simplified ones.
What’s MY level in Italian, then?
See this article:
How can I find ebooks at my level?
Ebooks in our new online shop are arranged in level order, from lowest to highest.
The level of each ebook is given (in brackets) immediately after the title.
Start from here.
Assuming you’re not a beginner, scroll to the bottom of the page and click on the next page link.
Keep doing this until the page you’re looking at shows books at your level.
If you’re a beginner, the first couple of pages should have everything relevant to you.
Whereas if your Italian is really, really good, you’ll want to be looking at the final pages of results.
Once you can see materials that might work for you, click on the cover image to find out more.
The blurb contains a download link for a free sample chapter!
Once you’ve looked at the free sample .pdf to verify that this is the sort of thing you need, use the ‘add to cart’ button.
And via!
Can I listen offline?
Our six self-study workbooks come with separate audio files.
But the mass of our material (all of the easy readers) have online audio only.
Why?
Because sending out audio files uses a lot of bandwith, both at our end and yours.
Plus, people can’t open zipped files.
And then they don’t remember where they saved the contents.
Insomma, it’s a pain.
Whereas with the online version, you just click the link to listen.
Though you have to be online to do that.
Help! I can’t open the zipped folder!
Easy readers are just a .pdf file, but our workbooks come in a zipped folder containing the .pdf file and the associated audio files.
Some people have trouble with this.
It is, however, very simple…
- DOWNLOAD the attachment I send you (don’t just click it hoping it will open…)
- Find the attachment in your downloads file
- Right click on it
- Choose ‘extract all’
- That will create a new folder
- Save that some place where you’ll be able to find it
- Everything you need should be inside
Payments
Can I pay by credit card?
We don’t process credit cards directly on our sites.
But if you choose the ‘Paypal’ option, they should, in theory, offer you the chance to pay by card.
Personally, I’d choose to ‘Pay with Amazon’ (only available in our new shop).
That’ll take the money from whatever card you have associated with your Amazon account.
So making it fast and painless.
And in addition, you’ll benefit from the guarante and complaints resolution proceedure that they offer.
I bought an ebook but forgot to apply the discount code.
Oops!
I’d offer a refund.
But, besides the extra work, it’s a nightmare from the accounting point of view.
So usually we’ll agree on something extra (another ebook, say) to make up for the lost discount.
