Buondì.
I’ve spent around £600 this week on writers and a new website.
Say the equivalent of about a hundred and fifty £3.99 ebooks.
That’s more or less the revenues from the last couple of ‘Book of the Week’ offers.
I’ve always said I reinvest the proceeds of ebook sales, though it’s not as easy as you might imagine, in part because life is short and my time is limited.
It’s also hard to get good people to help.
But this time, I’m really pleased with what has been achieved!
In no time at all, we’ve put together an enthusiastic team of young Italian teachers to write material for you.
And they’ve been churning it out!
I got so much, so quickly, I had to beg them to stop.
Below you’ll find a link, so you can get a sneak preview.
The first ‘full edition’ will hopefully be ready on Friday.
I’m aiming for about ten minutes of ‘easy’ Italian.
Listen to it all three times, and that’ll be half-an-hour of practice done.
Your brain will be steaming, I hope.
So fill your fridge with cold beer, in anticipation.
‘Easy’ doesn’t necessarily mean ‘slow’, by the way. There’s already a site for that, and I’m sure they do an excellent job.
Our approach is to give you a ‘simplified’ text, written to a predictable format.
The writer will be an Italian teacher, who should therefore have the experience to ‘grade’ the content, so it’s not too complex, as news articles tend to be.
There’ll also be audio, so you can read and listen at the same time.
And if it’s too hard or too fast?
Keep doing it, each time we publish something new, until your brain starts to tune in.
That might take a few months, by the way, so be patient.
But you’ll get there.
Ready? Here’s the link. It’s just one article so far, but there’ll be loads more on Friday:
And yes, the material is free, no registration is required, etc. etc.
I may or may not bung up some adverts, if I feel like it – they’re colourful, make the site look professional, and help pay the hosting company and the writers.
But in the meantime, I’m counting on selling more ebooks…
‘Book of the Week’ – the promised HARD SELL!
Actually no.
I’ve spent the whole morning on the above project, and it’s almost time to set off to my day job.
And you know? Making new stuff and writing about that is much more involving that writing ‘commercial’ texts.
Hence I’ll just link to the post I sent out yesterday to the online shop mailing list:
Ieri, oggi, domani – just £3.99
My goodness, I think that was the shortest, fastest-to-write advertisement I’ve ever done!
P.S.
People see articles like this one, and think ‘Is that all?’
But of course, it isn’t.
At OnlineItalianClub.com, where you signed up to get this type of news from me, there are literally thousands of pages of free resources.
Around ten thousand people each day use the club site to improve their Italian, though of course, that’s a drop in the ocean for big sites like Duolingo and Babbel.
But OnlineItalianClub.com is just me and a team of part-time helpers: freelance teachers, materials writers, and my kids, when I can rope them in.
One advantage of ‘joining’ our club?
It’s more intimate!
If you need help, or don’t know where to start, you can just shoot me an email.
Try that with one of the giants and see what happens!
A venerdì.

Prego, Jeanette!
Check back tomorrow or Friday for more news content (Friday, probably, but as it’s a new project the publishing schedule is still a bit hit or miss…)
Lynne F says
Thanks Daniel (and family) Looking forward to listening and reading more “real life’ language.
