OK, we’ve found the missing piece of our Free B1 (intermediate) Level Online Italian Course, the Exercises to go with Week 3 (they got lost down the back of someone’s email account, didn’t they, Lucia??). Anyway, you can get them here.
Plus, “Why is your site in ENGLISH??? I want to learn ITALIAN!!!”, complained someone this morning as they hit the “Unsubscribe” link on the e-mail they’d received (there’s one on every e-mail we send, if you’re are similarly irritated).
Why indeed? There are 3 reasons why these posts are in English:-
- Many (Most?) of the site’s users are NOT used to reading in Italian, even if they would like to be able to. A site with only Italian would exclude a lot of people. We want to encourage people to learn Italian, but to do that, we have to baby them along a bit at the beginning..
- EVERYONE speaks English. Were Italian the world’s “lingua franca”, we’d use it for everything. Really.
- The last reason? I CAN and DO write in Italian, but being British, writing in English saves me a lot of time and embarassment. OK?
So, if you want to learn Italian, don’t worry! You’re in the right place. Our Forums have both Italian Only and English-language sections, and the Courses are 95% in Italian too.
Va bene?
