Buondì.
A super-short one this morning, as I took Roomie to her zoo by bus, then walking, which used up time. After that I was busy closing down last week’s ebook offer, and setting up this week’s (details below).
It’s already ten-thirty! And it’s the end of the month, which means paying the rent and payroll for our Italian school, where I’m typing this. With, as mentioned last week, a closeup view of the rather ugly twelveth century Torre degli Azzoguidi from the window behind me. Eight hundred years sure is a long time…
Don’t Mondays suck, though?
Roomie didn’t want to get up this morning, first trying a plaintive “TEE VUUU!” (Saturday’s and Sunday’s she gets to watch kiddie TV in bed on my smartphone), pretending not to have heard us tell her that the weekend was over, E.N.D.E.D.
She then sneaked back into bed, in the hope that her non presence in the bathroom would derail the usual routine of dressing, teeth-cleaning and so on.
On the other hand, on Mondays daycare takes the strain for seven hours or so, and there’s no lunch to cook or dishes to wash, as we’re all eating leftovers from plastic icecream containers. Mine is tagliatelle ragù, in case you were wondering. Sunday lunch, now Monday’s, too.
So anyway, thanks to everyone who commented, following last week’s article in which I protested that no one ever did. If you’d like to read what was written, a simple way to do it is to visit the club website and to look for the little box, where it says JOIN THE CONVERSATION. Clicking on any of the comments will take you to the article or page which was commented on, where you can then follow the thread.
A mention also for Fran, who left an ebook review. Wow, thanks, Fran! You are a rare and precious flower in a meadow of wild weeds. Check out the ebook she reviewed, and what she thought of it, here.
And talking of ebook reviews, I’ve included links to them for the four ‘eBooks of the Week’ below. Take a look and you’ll see that while most of them are very positive, not all are. Proof, if you needed it, that I publish even critical feedback (the ethical thing to do.) That said, if I don’t agree with what a reviewer writes, I’ll say so…
Gotta go, to the bank. A mercoledì!

Chi è per me Cecilia (C1/2)
“Grandioso!

Follow Il Guercio, the diminutive one-eyed Sardinian jockey, as he’s hired to ride one of the year’s best horses, bareback, in Italy’s most famous urban race, the Siena Palio!

Hi Daniel,
I am commenting to cheer up your day but also to finally find out who (or what) is Roomie? I must have missed the email with explanation and I’ve been wandering about mysterious Roomie for long time now. When I heard about Roomie first time it must have been when the war in Ukraine started because I thought you are providing a refuge for a Ukrainian refugee (a new Roomie = roommate). Few emails later I thought Roomie is a dog or a pet of sorts. But then sometimes Roomie sounds more like your baby grandchild. I also have to admit that Roomie often sounds like your imaginary friend. Either way I am just not sure.
So I am admitting a defeat if this was a competition! Am I the only one still not knowing who the mysterious Roommie is??
Please reveal Roomie’s identity to your humble concerned reader,
Silvia

Ciao Silvia,
The confusion is deliberate, and I’m sorry but I can’t be more specific in print. But you’re spot on with the name, Roomie = room mate, indeed. Maybe if you email? Just this once!
Thanks for the comment, by the way!
Daniel
