I’m of the firm belief that life’s too short to bother with Italian conditionals.
Rather than scratching my head over the grammar, I’ll read something in Italian, while enjoying a cold beer…
You won’t, therefore, be surprised to hear that I didn’t do too well on either of today’s two new grammar exercises.
Choices, choices. Guess I’ll have to live with mine.
But if you’re more meticulous than I am, before trying the exercises you might want to review the following lessons from our free Italian lessons series :
18. Conditional Present | 28. Unreal Present | 29. Unreal Past
Or you could just dive right in:
Conditionals – true or false?
Present or past condtional?

If you’ve got this far without clicking on a link, we might be kindred spirits!
Perhaps you prefer to learn Italian as I did, by reading and listening? The cold beer is optional.
In which case, our new easy reader e-book would be an excellent way to begin!
‘L’appuntamento‘ is level A1, which means it’s ideal for beginners or near-beginners but also excellent practice however far along you are with the language.
You read the text while listening to the online audio. Then pause the audio to re-read, taking a little more time over it. Finally, listen again, but this time without the text to support you.
Chapter by chapter your confidence in reading and listening to Italian will grow, as will your enjoyment of the story.
- ‘L’appuntamento‘ is A1, but suitable for all levels
