‘Book of the Week’ offer & more street name listenings

May 8, 2017 by Daniel

Where I come from, Garibaldi is a type of biscuit.

But according to my daughter, he was one of the most important people in Italian history!

And so, of course, there are plenty of streets named after him.

Find out why with today’s first ‘street name’ listening: Garibaldi.

And for dessert, another victim of fascism: Matteotti.

As a young man he was a law student at the famous Bologna university, the oldest in Europe.

Learn how that worked out for him: Matteotti.

So that was today’s FREE stuff.

Don’t forget, there’s masses more on our website, with no registration, password or payment required (so tell your friends!)

But for anyone who’s in the mood to support us with a purchase from our new online shop, well today is the day.

A  ‘Book of the Week’ promotion is an occasional chance to get one of our easy Italian readers at half the usual price!

The last one was a month or so ago and I figured you’ll have read/listened to that one by now.

So here we go again!

And this time I’ve chosen a title from our ‘Book of the classic Italian movie’ series, one we published exactly a year ago, Roma città aperta.

This moving masterpiece of Italian neo-realism, set in WW2 Rome, tells the story of how resistance leader Giorgio, along with his friends, neighbours and family members, fight the Nazi forces occupying their city.

The idea with these ‘classic movie’ easy readers is to get you a simplified version of the story of the film, which you can then read or study before tackling the movie.

They’re written by an actual scriptwriter (also an Italian teacher), so despite being simplified, they are very faithful to the structure of the movie.

And while we don’t sell the movie itself, sometimes, as in this case, you might find that’s it available on Youtube.

So that’s something engaging you can be doing to improve your Italian this week.

And all for just £3.99!

The offer is good until Sunday night.
