My job, as always, is to sell it, not that that should be hard.

If I were studying Italian, I’d buy it myself.

If anything similar were available for the languages I am currently studying, I’d willingly shell out.

Money spent on materials is often WASTED, in my experience.

But cash spent on materials that are used, enjoyed and profited from more is more likely to be a wise investment.

Anyway, the new ebook is ‘Indagine su un cittadino al di sopra di ogni sospetto‘ (Investigation of a Citizen Above Suspicion).

The level is B2, so it’s on the harder side.

According to Wikipedia, in 1970 The New York Times described the film as:

a suspense melodrama with the moral concerns of angry satire…When it opened in Italy early this year [it] was hailed for the ways in which it exposed the corrupt, authoritarian practices of the police, who place themselves above their own laws…The story moves forward with a relentless momentum. It is a political parable, and a stunning movie.

I’m confident that she will. These are usually good, as we have them written by an actual scriptwriter and so a movie expert, who’s also happens to be an Italian teacher at our school.

Giovanni watches the movie several times and picks out what he thinks are the most essential scenes. He’ll then rewrite the key events and the best-known dialogues in a way that the final text is suitable for people learning Italian. Later we get Giovanni’s text recorded, so you can listen as well as read.

To be clear – we don’t sell movies in any shape or form, nor do we sell movie scripts. I’m sure they would be covered by copyright law, and in any case are unlikely to be suitable as learning aids.

Our ‘easy readers’ are a retelling of the film which are intended as stand-alone materials for students of the language (text plus online audio) or as a support to be used before or after watching the movie itself.

To get a better idea of the movie, you’ll find plenty of short clips on Youtube – just search using the film’s title.

I couldn’t find the full version of the movie itself, but some streaming services might have it and it’s likely to be available to buy online.

Anyway, if I were you, I’d start by taking a look at our Free Sample Chapter (.pdf), which you can download immediately or view online.
