Buondì.
OK, so opera is a niche thing, I get it.
Thanks to club members who bought a copy of Verdi e il Va’ pensiero and/or Nabucco, while they were on offer (until last night.)
Let’s just say there weren’t exactly hordes of you.
But that’s fine! I enjoyed putting them together, finding about about Verdi, and watching one of his operas on Youtube, with the help of our ‘easy reader’ version.
And that’s what I do this for.
Certainly not the money, as I’ve been running the club since 2012 and haven’t yet personally earned a single penny from it. Though I plan to, one day…
I received a handful of enthusiastic emails, too, from people who really are into opera, which was nice.
So I’m not dispirited! Which is just as well, because the next thing on my To Do list today, when I’m done writing this, is to proof read and listen to our ‘easy reader’ ebook version of Turandot, for publication NEXT Monday.
I can’t tell you more, as I don’t know the slightest thing about it. Watch this space, on Monday!
Talking of ebooks, I had in mind to do a half-price ‘Book of the Week’ promotion today, so one of our ebook titles from years back, reduced by 50%.
Our marketing plan is primitive, basically to fill in the gaps between new publications and major promotions (there’s a Free Trial Lesson Offer coming in November, for instance) with the BotW promotions, so people will always have something to spend their cash on – no, I mean ‘will always have something to supplement their Italian study program with!’
Perhaps both of those things. Anyway, the title I chose for you this week was the classic (and rather depressing) Italian movie Ladri di biciclette (A2/B1). But that one turns out to be ALREADY ON OFFER in our shop!
I remember now – a couple of weeks back, before the Autumn Sale it must have been, I had a few minutes free between crises and spent them tidying up the front page of our ebooks shop, EasyReader.org, and adding a selection of ebooks to the ‘On Sale’ section (scroll down, in the middle), as a sort of experiment.
And then I promptly forgot.
So never mind about the BotW offer this week, but do check out the 4 x -25% titles (which I plan to restore to their full price on Sunday).
They are:
Ladri di biciclette (A2/B1) – the aforementioned classic movie
La coscienza di Zeno (B1) – literature!
Colpa della terra, Libro 1, Colpa della terra (B2) – the first of five stories about Italians migrating to the USA
Italian/English Parallel Texts: Un’indagine molto privata (B1/2) – Italian original, English translation (but no audio or exercises)
Or just hit the catalog page and browse until you find material that works for your current level.
N.b. The catalog page has FREE SAMPLE CHAPTERS for everything. Why not use the free sample chapter download to check that you know how to use the material on the device you might want to read/listen to it on? iPhones/iPads are pretty, but not everyone knows how to use them…
A mercoledì.
P.S.
Don’t forget to read/listen to Saturday’s FREE bulletin of ‘easy’ Italian news, as there’ll be another published tomorrow (Tuesday).
You wouldn’t want to fall behind, right?
