Notes on the Verb Conjugator

Our verb conjugator has been created and designed as a reference instrument for our users. Especially when writing a text in Italian, doubs on verbs forms and correct spelling arise frequently.

There are several verb conjugator on the web, and each of them chooses different criteria in categorizing verbs, highlighting variable parts (endings and/or irregularities). In our conjugator:

  • verb endings, as well as totally or partly irregular forms, are highlighted in red;
  • auxiliary verbs in compound tenses are not highlighted;
  • we choosed to use pronouns ‘lei/lui’ for the third singular person and ‘loro’ for the third plural person. Most of conjugators on the web still use ‘egli’ (sometimes along with ‘ella’) and ‘essi’, which are seldom used in contemporary Italian;
  • at the top of each conjugation you will find the english translation of the verb, as well asĀ  the group the verb belongs to (first, second and third conjugation) and an indication of wheter the verb is regular or not.

Some of the verbs of our conjugator can be used with other auxiliary verbs than the one indicated in its conjugation. That mainy depends on the fact that some verbs can be both transitive and intransitive according to their meaning and use in a specific content. To learn more about this, click here.
