Buondì.
I’m back in Bologna, after my overnight stay in Torino on Thursday. A lot of the weekend was spent minding Roomie, or washing dishes, meaning that work has really piled up. So I’ll keep this short. No, really!
This morning we published a new ‘easy reader’ ebook, part of the ‘A day in the life of’ series of tales from the lives of famous Italians. Some of them are quite fun.
This time it’s the ‘father of radio’, Marconi, who lived not far up the road from Bologna. The story is called Tutti parlano di Marconi, and a hundred or so years ago, everyone was. He was a sort-of Elon Musk of the early twentieth century!
The level of this one is B1/B2, so basically intermediate, and until Sunday February 12th it’s reduced 25% from the usual ebook price – just £5.99. There are full details below.
As always, I suggest checking out the FREE sample chapter (.pdf) before you buy your copy. That way, you’ll know whether the level is suitable and that the format works on the device you intend to use it on.
Also, because we’ve had some confused (and perhaps rather careless) customers, recently, I would reiterate that our ebooks shop sells, erm, EBOOKS. We DO NOT sell products made from dead trees!
Why not, apart from the ecological impact, and the fact that shipping them to the USA or Australia would cost an eye (as Italians say) and take forever?
Because it’s a hassle, that’s why. I’d need a warehouse, and I’d have to worry about stock. Life’s too short.
Plus, with an ebook, you can be reading and listening to it just a minute or so after your purchase, rather than waiting days, weeks, or months for the postperson to bring it.
Nobody ever seems to read this, but in every marketing message of this type, I ALWAYS include the following:
How do I access my ebook?
When your order is ‘completed’ (normally, immediately after your payment), a download link will be automatically emailed to you. It’s valid for 7 days and 3 download attempts so please save a copy of the .pdf ebook in a safe place. Other versions of the ebook (.mobi/Kindle-compatible, .epub) cannot be downloaded but will be emailed to people who request them.
Ebook = .pdf document, or if you prefer, an .epub file (for ebook readers, smartphones, etc.) or even the old-style .mobi file, which used to the de rigueur for Kindles. Or all three. Just ask. There’s a space on the order form.
Got all that? Bene. Scroll down to read about Maroni.
A mercoledì!
An original Italian easy reader by Francesca Colombo
Guglielmo’s mother is explaining to the university physics professor that her son finds school boring, and is, in any case, busy with his hobbies, so she doesn’t insist he go. The professor nods politely – he’s used to wealthy families and their spoilt, lazy offspring…
The woman continues – her son is designing, what does he call it, ‘a battery’ – in the little laboratory they’ve built for him. The nodding stops. Perhaps the Marconi boy really doesn’t need to go to school? Bring him along to the university, the professor suggests. Why not tomorrow?
