Here’s today’s free Italian exercise.
The level, along with the others in the current series, is A1 (beginner/elementary), but it’s useful as revision for students at any level.
The topic is the present tense of reflexive verbs, which are used more frequently in Italian than in English.
Click this link to give it a try.
Or go here to view the other free Italian exercises at this level.
As always, more on Wednesday!
P.S.
Thanks to those of you who entered our competition to win a free copy of our next ‘book of the film’ simplified audio-ebook’, due out shortly.
You can read the competition questions, and the answers submitted by Veronica, Tina, Karen, Sergey and Gerald here.
As you can see, there wasn’t much to choose between them – they were all right on the mark. Bravi!
So the free copy of ‘Il sorpasso’ will go to Sergey, simply because he’s such a loyal and enthusiastic member of our club and has contributed so much in the past.
Thanks to all of you, though. As always, I really appreciate you taking the time to leave a comment.
Sergey, I’ll e-mail you your copy when it’s published (don’t hesitate to write and remind me if I forget!)
IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT E-BOOK PURCHASES
Recent changes in EU law regarding sales tax (VAT in Europe, IVA in Italy) affect the OnlineItalianClub.com shop, as well as thousands of other similar ‘micro businesses’.
In particular the issue regards automatic downloads of e-books sold to customers in the EU. We must now add sales tax (at the rate charged in the EU resident’s home country) to those orders, and only those orders.
We are also obliged to obtain and keep proof for ten years to demonstrate customers’ locations (so as to verify whether you’re in or outside the EU).
And, if necessary, to submit to verification of our VAT returns by the tax authorities of any one of the EU member states, should they have nothing better to do.
Basically it’s crazy.
Anyway, the important point is that from 01/01/15 we are no longer allowing automatic downloads of our e-books.
What does this mean for you?
- Visit our shop and select the ebook or ebooks you want in the usual way
- Complete the payment, also in the usual way
- You’ll receive a receipt from Paypal, and a confirmation of your order from our site, just like always
- But without the download link, ‘cos that would be a digital service..
So how do you get your e-book, then?
As the sales tax/VAT regulations only apply to digital services which are automatically delivered (i.e. downloading tracks from the Apple store, or ebooks from our shop) I will now be manually sending your e-book attached to an email.
Also crazy, but that’s what the British tax authorities suggest as a solution.
Unless I’m dead or in a coma, you’ll get your ebook within 24 hours.
That’s guaranteed, or your money back and you keep the e-book anyway!
It’s like ordering a pizza from Dominoes… If it doesn’t arrive in the time they promise, you don’t have to pay for it, apparently.
So, I guess that’ll give me something useful to do over breakfast each morning.
And it’ll be a nice way to make friends with OnlineItalianClub.com members.
What the hell – some people had problems with the download links anyway…
Conclusion?
No more automatic downloads.
But no sales tax either…
All’s well that ends well!
(If you’d like to know more about this, Google ‘VAT MESS’. It makes entertaining reading…)
P.P.S.
If you’ve already bought an ebook but haven’t downloaded it yet, it’s very likely that your download link won’t function any more.
But not to worry!
Just email me (address at the bottom of all pages on our site) and I promise you’ll get your copy.
Hot from the oven, or your money back!
