The EasyItalianNews.com donations appeal, which ran from Tuesday last week to Tuesday this week, was a huge success, our best ever! Meaning that we can pay our team for a few months without having to worry. MANY THANKS to everyone who helped. We really, really appreciate it. And if you have no idea what I’m talking about, see today’s P.P.S.
On the flip side, Wednesday’s complicated explanation of the problem with ebook reviews over at our ebooks store, EasyReaders.org, appears to have had absolutely zero effect. No reviews came through, other than the usual spam, and no one wrote to say they’d written one, so confirming that the issue remains unresolved.
At this point, I’m inclined to give up on reviews, both for the ebooks store and for NativeSpeakerTeachers.com (online lessons). If it’s a technical glitch, that might resolve itself with future software updates, as sometimes happens. Whereas if people don’t care enough about genuine, unedited user reviews to take time to leave one themselves, well così, I’ll be on to other topics and potential buyers can just guess at whether something is worth spending their £££ on.
Anyway, today is June 2nd, a public holiday in Italy (see below), so I’m planning to take it easy. What work has to be done will get done, but for the rest of the day, I’ll be catching up on my newspapers and radio shows, cooking lunch and dinner, and the boy needs a driving lesson.
A lunedì, allora.

Bologna, 2nd of June 1946. Italy is slowly recovering from the devastating effects of World War II. A referendum has been organised to decide whether the reborn state will be a republic or continue as a monarchy. And for the first time in history, Italian women can go to the polls! Newly-wed Marcella is so excited at the prospect she barely slept last night. But her husband, Antonio, is unconvinced…
