Lettere C e G

Le lettere C e G hanno la particolarità di cambiare suono in base alla vocale che le segue:

Letters C and G change sound depending on the vowels they are followed by:

  • C+A/O/U = /k/ come nelle parole italiane ‘casa’ and ‘cuore’ – as in english words ‘cat’ and ‘coast’
  • C+E/I = /tʃ/ come nelle parole italiane ‘ciao’ e ‘centro’ – as in english words ‘cheese’ and ‘chest’
  • C+H+E/I = /k/ come nelle parole italiane ‘chiuso’ e ‘anche‘
  • G+A/O/U = /g/ come nelle parole italiane ‘gatto’ e ‘gondola’ – as in english words ‘govern’ and ‘gamble’
  • G+E/I = /dʒ/ come nelle parole italiane ‘giusto’ e ‘gente’ – as in english words ‘just’ and ‘genius’
  • G+H+E/I = /g/ come nelle parole italiane ‘ghiaccio’ e ‘alghe‘
