Many thanks to those of you who bought last week’s new Italian easy reader Colombo e il mare Oceano.
The offer has now ended, though if you’ve a yen to discover whether Colombo (the explorer, not the ‘seventies detective) did actually reach the new world, click here.
Anyway, today I have two more ‘old’ listenings with ‘new’ tasks for your to try, and a ‘Book of the Week’ offer!
But first things first: the listenings.
There’s a task at the top of each.
Read that first, so you’ll have some idea about what you’ll hear.
Play the listening. Don’t expect to understand much at first. That’s normal.
Repeat it a few times, taking notes if you wish.
Guessing at the answers to the task is fine, too.
Forming and checking hypotheses (guessing) is an integral part of listening and understanding.
When you’ve finally had enough, scroll down to see the answers.
And then, why not listen again with the transcript?
Or you could just read through the transcript, noting the comparative and superlative forms and checking words you don’t know in a dictionary.
Insomma, hours of fun for everyone.
And all free!

N.B. You’ll find plenty more material like this on our listening index page.
Now then, for those of you whose pocket money is burning a hole in their pockets, as my mother used to say, time for the ‘Book of the Week’!
If you’ve been a member of our club for a while, you’ll remember I did these regularly over the last year or two.
The idea is to bring to your attention (with a big discount!) easy reader ‘classics’ from our back-catalog that you might otherwise have missed out on.
This week I’ve picked something which is ideal for beginners or near beginners, while still being entertaining and valuable practice for students at higher levels.
Rosa is a good mother and an excellent grandmother… but an awful cook! When Valeria, Rosa’s health-conscious daughter, has a domestic emergency, Rosa is left to prepare lunch for her two grandchildren…
There are eight short chapters, each with an exercise and a glossary.
The audio for the whole story is available free online to listen to as often as you wish.
Until Sunday, get Rosa la cuoca disastrosa for just £3.99 (the usual price is £7.99, so you’re saving 50%.)
But try before you buy: download the free sample chapter.
P.S.
If you previously bought either the fantastic value ‘Eighteen Italian Easy Readers – HALF PRICE!‘ or the ‘Italian Easy Readers ‘Three For Two’ – Level A1‘ bundles, you’ll already have Rosa (so don’t buy it again by accident!)
Instead, go browse the ‘Learn Italian‘ section of our new online shop.
With more than sixty titles, there’s sure to be something that’ll give your motivation a boost!
A mercoledì.
