Il fu Mattia Pascal – Capitolo 1 (simplified book + audio)

June 16, 2014 by Daniel

Pirandellos worksYesterday you had the intro to our simplified version of Pirandello’s novel ‘Il fu Mattia Pascal’.

If you didn’t get round to reading/listening to it yet, you can find it here.

And perhaps sometime today you’ll find a minute for ‘capitolo 1’.

Click the white arrow in the orange button of the audio plugin here below to listen (If you don’t see the audio plugin, click here to view this article on our website.)

By the way, if you find the listening challenging on it’s own, there’s no reason you shouldn’t listen and read the transcript at the same time.

You can then listen again without the help of the text, if you choose to prioritize working on your listening. Or dedicate more time to the text. Or both!

Transcript

«Sei brutto Mattia, brutto e povero… Anzi, brutto, povero e triste».

Having read this exercise I have prepared a list of connectors, some conjunctions some prepositions e.t.c, designed to make Italian more “Italian”
I am sure Daniel will tell us which ones we should memorise to get us started

The extract was quite easy to understand QUINDI / ALLORA ho comprato il libro

oops I did not include the small list I startd from reading the extract.
    here it is
    Una elenca di “connectors”

Tra / fra – among, between
    Spesso – often
    Davvero – truly, really
    Frattempo – meanwhile
    Nemmeno – not even
Non……per niente – not at all
    Ma – but
    E – and
    O – or
Ancora – still , again, yet
    Anzi – in fact, rather

I am sure members will have their own lists, I would be happy to add them to the list

    Sorry about that

    John
