You’ve probably been working on your Italian listening over the last couple of weeks, right?
That’s great!
And there’ll be more to come next week, when we start releasing the A2 material.
But let’s not forget about the other half of the equation!
It’s not much good being able to understand what others say to you if, when you open your mouth to reply, you can’t utter a single word!
A lot of people think that speaking a foreign language follows naturally from studying the grammar, learning new words, and so on.
They’re wrong.
Speech is as much a habit as listening (or reading, or writing).
It certainly doesn’t just happen, once you know all the tenses and enough new words!
It takes plenty of practice to get to the point where you’ll be able to hold your own in anything more than the most basic interaction.
LOTS of practice.
Of course if you’re taking an Italian class, you have that sorted.
But if not?
Is that you? Poring over your grammar books and vocabulary lists…. but never actually opening your mouth?
Well, that’s what our online Italian conversation groups are for.
Speaking practice.
In a supportive atmosphere, with others in the same situation.
Join one of our classes, and you’ll have a one-hour lesson, once a week, to practice speaking Italian.
An hour might not seem like much, but it can actually be quite intensive.
And it’s a hell of lot better than nothing at all.
As the weeks pass, you should start to see the difference in your confidence levels.
You should also notice that you get a little faster in forming your replies, and are able to express your thoughts in a greater range of situations.
All it takes is practice.
And the more practice you do, the better you’ll get.
So, here’s a heads up – we have three new conversation groups programed to start in the week after Easter:
- Tuesdays at 21.00 (9 pm) Italian time
- Wednesdays at 14.00 (2 pm) Italian time
- Thursdays at 08.00 (8 am) Italian time
Each group will have a maximum of five students.
The lessons will be structured as conversations, so everyone will get a chance to speak.
Students of any level are welcome, apart from complete beginners, who would probably not benefit.
We’re offering the different times so as to suit all time zones / lifestyles.
The teacher is an experienced professional (and is very nice…)
What else is there to say? Oh yes, the cost!
€49.99 for the course of 5 lessons (5 hours in total).
That’s €10 a week, which shouldn’t break the bank.

Vorrei tanto frequentare la classe de conversazione, ma quando si è pensionata e non si può arrivare alla fine del mese, non ci sono i soldi per pagare la classe de conversazione.

Ciao Maria,
Sorry you won’t be able to join us for the conversation class. But your level in Italian seems so good already!
Best wishes,
Daniel
