To start with a reminder, the launch offer on our new Italian easy reader ‘Roma città aperta’ ends on Sunday evening.
The movie (not our simplified e-book version) was shot while WW2 was still going on, though obviously after the liberation of Rome itself, and was restored by Cineteca, in my now home city of Bologna.
To get an idea of what it’s about, here are Cineteca’s official trailers for two key scenes (spoiler alert: they’re two KEY scenes!)

Enjoyed those?
Then seeing the entire film would be so cool, no?
But I’m not posting a link to a pirate version online because 1.) it’s unethical and 2.) a lot of those sites are dodgy and contain malware, which could potentially cause you damage. Better to be honest, and safe!
It’s possible that Netflix or similar has the entire version for you to watch, or you could order the DVD for Amazon…
That said, you’d surely get more from watching the full version if you’d already read our easy-reader re-telling of the story….
New Free Lesson In Our Series
‘Roma città aperta‘ done, I have Friday’s free Italian lesson for you, and though this is part of our C1 (advanced) series, it should be fairly accessible to most club members.
Today’s topic is Uses Of The Past Participle, which follows on nicely from Wednesday’s lesson on the present participle. Better still, the grammar is not dissimilar to analogous structures in English.
So do take a look!

P.S.
Our club is free to join and use because we are able to pay our writers (and hosting bills) with revenues from selling e-books and online Italian lessons.
So if you value what we do, why not ‘kill two pigeons with one bean’ (as Italians say)?
